Wow metal on the outside that will help cook them and the smell will be
funkis.
There is a chicken coop build kit with many designs from CoopHut.com which
you can use their blueprints and make a custom coop on your own.
I think you were actually using hardware cloth, not chicken wire.

Just one mod-make sure the roosting bar/perch is rounded off and has no
edges otherwise your birds will develope serious foot problems, the roost
bar needs to mimic what is found in the wild such as a stout branch or a
broom shank-de bark the branch as this can harbour red mite and other
nasties.
