MmePoulet,,, you are obviously a very dumb person. Chicken are “Aviary” creatures,,, with ancestors and relatives that we call BIRDS! Birds that roost in the wild outdoors do so on branches,, none of which measure 2″x4″ with the wide side up. Branches are round’ish and birds feet were DESIGNED to grip these round’ish objects. This Coop is amazing and stylish. I’d be proud to have it. Go troll elsewhere.

That,s the most beautiful and easy to clean coop i,v seen so far!! Thanks and all the best with your chickkies!!

I looked at your YouTube channel, MmePoulet, I see you have no videos or posts of your own, other than condemning what has been done here. I’m making a guess you have no chickens, no chicken coop of your own, no video camera, no knowledge of posting a video, and most assuredly you have no sweet, thoughtful, and handy husband to build you a chicken coop. Am I right, did I hit the old proverbial nail on the head with my assessment?

What a beautiful coop! Great job.

Ive got to say , thats a great looking coop, practical and pretty. dont be knocked by people telling you hard and fast ‘rules’ about the coop and layout….i’ve seen far poorer built accomodation…i sort of agree with the nest box thing though, 3 would be fine in that size…you’ll know if its too small by the frequency of cleaning it out…yours obviously are going to free range so space isnt too great an issue as long as they all have sufficient night roosting perches inside…….great job.

Built my coop from a storage shed…lots of DIY and predator proof. Check out my channel!

We have vents on both ends of our coops and also run soffit the entire length on both sides of the roof (just like the ones on your home) with small ventilation holes. It has excellent ventilation. We also have roosting boxes that run the length of the entire back wall. I have never had any of my chickens fall off our roost but 2×4′s are also a great thing to use.

  19. CleanCoops says:

Make sure if you double up on the number of hens you LET THEM OUT early and have 3-5 sq. ft. per bird in the chicken run! I let mine free range. Typically, I recommend only 12 hens in the Daisy.

  20. CleanCoops says:

I love having options which is why I decided to have as many nests as I could. I have hatched out chicks in my coop while there are still enough nests for the others to keep laying. If you are diligent at letting the hens out during the day (an automatic door is great! ) you can also put another perch inside and have twice as many hens. That way, everyone has a nest and they feel more private with more choices. You can also modify the plan to your own specific needs. I love my Daisy so much! :)

  21. Barbara Glassman. says:

I urge anyone who is going to have chickens to educate yourself so you can fully understand what chickens really need vs. what we think would be “cute.” BTW, that size coop needs no more than 2 nesting boxes. My coop is twice the size and my 5 hens lay in one nest only. Everyone: Learn what is proper BEFORE you become a chicken farmer!!!

  22. Barbara Glassman. says:

While this is a lovely structure, it is missing 2 critical features: ventilation and perches. There should be 1 sq. ft. of ventilation per floor sq. footage. There should be perches – preferably 2. The safest are 2×4′s (wide side up) because chickens roost with their feet flat. They can fall off a round perch.

I first liked this video, but then you started talking….

OK i am in love with your chicken coop.
How much did this cost you?
I am about to make one like yours in a way.
