If I may suggest a labor saving thought. I would think with those two 2×4′s
and the nests the total weight is sufficient that they will not come out of
the brackets. At least by moving up. If they might move sidewise you can
add side stop. I don’t think you really need the one extra screw.
Right. The screw, in the bracket, was only to stop side to side movement.
If you positioned the bottom two brackets a bit more inboard (nearer the
pails) that would eliminate the potential problem of the boards falling out
of the brackets.
Just one suggestion. Rather than screwing and unscrewing. Put two screws at
each end of the wooden piece just before the metallic hanger. that will
tighten up the whole nests and it will avoid the wood from mooving from the
sides and falling down. It’s way more comfortable than having to carry a
screwdriver around
Used to…My wife and I used to own WKNX radio in mid-Michigan.
My husband has been doing this for years. Moving a setting hen without
disturbing her is easier at night and the double bucket nest box makes the
whole procedure quick and simple.
You bet! There are a few different solutions that’ will locate the 2 by 4s
from left to right. If you moved the bottom two brackets a bit more inboard
(nearer the pails) they would take care of it too. Thanks for your input.
Just a suggestion. Keyhole slots and larger panhead screws. Simpler and
cheaper.
That would work. I would just make the wood a little longer. I doubt it
would fall out if it was just a few inches longer on each side. It actually
doesnt look like it would as it is.
I would suggest making the bucket itself hangable by essentially putting a
keyhole toward the top in the bottom or back, as it were hanging, and hang
it by a screw in the wall,
instead of having to remove the boards….simply permanently mount buckets
into the wall, then put another bucket inside of it. then, u just pull the
outside bucket out to clean it and re bed it. old farm trick
