do you have any problems with snakes?
They do fine in snow. We have temps down to -20 F and snow is typically between 4″-20″ for three months here. Water is the concern in winter. I use a magnetic engine oil pan heater on the bottom of the water can. The can hangs below the roost. I like to think this helps heat the roost, but I’m not sure. What I am sure of is they do great in the winter- they just don’t lay any eggs if it’s too cold.

Thanks for the instructions. Here’s a tip for you. We had a coop when I was a child and my dad hung a string with a 3 penny nail from the wire top. He would have us take a head of cabbage or lettuce and stab the core with the nail to suspend the head at about a foot above the ground. The chickens loved it. Also, if you grow sunflowers you can lay them out to dry and then put them in with the chickens and they’ll peck out all the dried seed. Again, thanks for sharing!

I just drafted it and built it. I used to study drafting and engineering so I hate buying someone else’ design if I can do it to fit my constraints better.
Can you post where you got the plans to build this? My mom is getting chickens and I like your design so I told her I would build it for a late mothers day present
Use grass clippings for the ground area man. That stone is no good for them.
