Our solar powered automatic door is a thumbs up with our chickens. They are released early in the morning while we rest or do other things, and they are shut…

What are your coop walls made of? It looks like paneling but I can figure out how you did your windows and door if it is just the thickness of paneling? It is a really great coop. Getting ready to build one and this style seems to be a very popular one.

I’m very impressed! Not only do you come across as a very responsible owner but this coop is beautiful! It’s very estetically pleasing to look at. Thanks for your vid.

The door has been working faithfully for 2 years now, despite the dusty, dirty environment of the barn, and the humidity etc. We have been very happy with it. When the days are very short in the winter we have to be careful not to run the strings of LED lights too long in the evening, but that is all. Just keep the wiring tucked away from curious pets and put all the electronics in a closed box to keep the relays clean. Thanks!

Very creative for sure, impressive. I’m just getting ready to build one after decades of manual labor.

I worry about all of the individual components and possible failure spots? Thanks for sharing!

They return at night because they were raised in this coop. The door opens &closes on a timer which is set to close well after they should be at roost. Some are rebels &instead sleep in the loft. Thanks to our 3 dogs & two donkeys, they have been safe, so far. If the coop is too crowded, or some of the chickens are bullies, that will discourage shy ones from going in at night. And yes, If desired, we could operate remotely by computer or smart phone, but the timer is best. Thanks

i get in the morning they get released but what makes them go back in before it closes. it is interesting if there was a way to make them go back in. with the cameras it seems like it could all be automated while your gone.

i absolutely LOVE how all your animals are walkin around each other in total peace. It really shows how great of a pet parent you are and how much love you show them! :D

Excellent work,I am interested in the remote workings of the door.
Do you have any schematics or part numbers you used at all please?

Well as good as our movie maker allows, but I learned from a 10 year old — he’s advance to flash. The animals always hang around and want me to pay attention to them, so they are naturals. Thanks for the thumbs up! When are you thinking of visiting Texas?

  21. cat2133 says:

Wow, Penny- you are a videographer, a documentary maker-The animals are great stars.
